Growing up in southwest British Columbia, Kieran McKay was exposed to box lacrosse at an early age. At age 5, after playing soccer for a couple of years, he decided to try out box lacrosse and played for a mini-tyke team in his community. It quicky became apparent that he had natural hand-eye coordination, and that this sport would soon become his favorite. Because hockey is still the primary sport played in Canada, box lacrosse can only be played in the spring once the ice is out of the arenas. During the fall and winter, field lacrosse is played, and when they finally developed a team in his community at the age of nine, Kieran was quick to join as well. He now enjoys playing box and field lacrosse, and travelling to tournaments all over North America throughout the year.
When not playing lacrosse or keeping up with his homework, Kieran enjoys refereeing both box and field lacrosse. He also can be found working on his strength and conditioning at the gym, or playing high school sports such as basketball and volleyball.
