Where does Konjac come from?
The Konjac plant is a perennial plant native to Asia. It’s believed to have been discovered in the Indochinese region and was introduced to Japan. It has been used for over 1,500 years as both a healthy calorie free cooking ingredient as well as, an all natural beauty product.
Glucomannan is Konjac’s main component, it's the active property in Konjac sponge responsible of cleansing, exfoliating, moisturizing and nurturing the skin. Konjac is also rich in vitamins (A, B1, B2, B6, B12, C, D, & E), proteins, lipids, fatty acids and natural minerals such as copper, zinc, iron and magnesium. These components make Konjac not only an excellent alternative as healthy food, but also a world renown skin care product.
Konjac fiber’s have excellent water-retaining properties, which help maintain a moist surface. As a result, the fibers hardly come into direct contact with the skin and will not scrape even with hard scrubbing. How is our Konjac Natural Care sponge made?
A year after the Konjac plant's seed is planted its root can be extracted. Our Konjac sponge is made by removing the root from the Konjac plant, which is then grinded and mixed with sterile water. The paste is then solidified by heating and immediately frozen overnight. Finally, the Konjac sponge is packaged and shipped for your enjoyment!
